Mathematicians in sports / horse betting?

Hi, I'm a mathematician and I have recently been investigating the use of mathematical hedge funds and such. But I think the same kinds of models and techniques could be used in arbitrage sports betting (and horses / dogs etc.). There are people or companies doing this? I feel like it even easier to make money in this field (unlike Wall Street) because today there are tons hedge funds all doing similar things, but it seems new to the game …
